As a visual storyteller, I’m happy to simply tell birth stories with my camera, whether in moving images or still ones, for those who want only that.
As a birth keeper or doula, I’m holistic in my thinking and am guided by the midwifery model of care and my support of women’s autonomy in childbearing. I’m uniquely suited to facilitate emotional and spiritual growth through the childbearing year. My sweet spot is supporting women planning natural, undisturbed births at home, with or without midwives. Yes, I support free birth and unassisted birth.
As a passionate mentor and childbirth educator, I’m delighted to have a beautiful container in which to holistically educated, support, and encourage women of faith on their home birth journeys from wherever they are in the country through my online courses.
And though none of these things alone define me, you might be interested to know that in addition to all things birth, I am captivated by the enneagram, the creation of beautiful living spaces, midwifery memoirs, ice creams with chocolate as the primary ingredient, yolky collagen mochas, in-home family photojournalism, lazy Saturday mornings at the beach with my family, unschooling my children, essential oils, and nature exploration.
It is my unwavering belief that birth and the One who designed it can be trusted and that most women can — if given a chance and adequate trust and support — birth their babies in power and love. You can read more of my birth philosophy here.

Hello! I'm so glad you're here. I ask the Father that the right women would find their way here, and to me.
I'm a 40-something mama and wife to a handyman/prayer-coordinator making her home near Grand Rapids, MI.
Since 2011, I have birthed our 6 babies at home, devoured birth-related reading material, photographed/doula-ed over 120 births, and briefly apprenticed with a midwife (over 40 births).
Sister Birth is an outside-the-box offering comprised of the best of all my life experiences — birth and non-birth related, as you’ll read below — pooled together to uniquely equip and encourage women in a sister-like way during their childbearing year.

So we are guided by the values of child-led learning, unschooling, time in the great outdoors, home church, and a slow & simple family lifestyle.
Our "medicine cabinet" is stocked with only herbal tinctures, homeopathy, vitamins and essential oils. And real food is our primary medicine.
Yup, my master's degree is in community counseling and I'm also a certified holistic health coach. That was before I found birth work. But they pair nicely with it, I think!
