You're feeling led to an unassisted or "free birth" due to an invitation from the Father and/or lack of comfort with licensed midwifery, which means -- presumably -- that you're ready and willing to take radical responsibility for yourself, your baby, and your birth, to step far outside the medical model, and to wear the mantel of autonomy (submitted to the Great Midwife).
But maybe you're also experiencing a yearning in your heart for support -- not the kind of support that will boss you around or take over responsibility, but simply a wise woman or sister to companion you along the way. Someone who knows and trusts birth, knows how to be with women in labor and birth (in a way not even an adored husband can be), with whom you can talk through every aspect of the choices you're making, the fears you're facing, and the plans you're constructing. Someone who will prayerfully and compassionately hold space for you.
Free birth does not have to equal alone or unattended birth.
Mine surely wasn't a solitary experience, nor do I think it ought to be (in most cases).
We are, afterall, made for community.
But when we decide to have an unassisted birth, we can end up rather lonely either because we don't feel we're "allowed" to ask for support if we're calling ourself a free birther or because most birth attendants won't support an unassisted birth because of liability or licensure/certification concerns.
I'm here to turn that on it's head. I will walk with you.
It can look like one of these two things:
1) I attend your (entirely non-medical) home birth with you firmly remaining in the driver's seat, guided by your own Holy-Spirit-infused intuition and instinct. (Option to add on birth photography).
2) Wrap-Around Support. I don't attend your birth but I support you leading up to an immediately following your birth, offering holistic, non-medical prenatal visits and the same kind of postpartum visits.
If this resonates with you and you want to explore the possibility of inviting me to be your birthkeeper and companion in one of those two ways, here are your next steps:
